5 Ways to Refresh Your WFH Space

Working from home means we spend a lot of our time in the same spaces. While this can attract clutter and make us long for a change of scene sometimes, it makes it easy for us to make positive changes quickly. If you’re feeling unmotivated and like your energy is stagnant, follow our 5 tips for renewing your home-office for a boost in motivation and productivity!

1. Welcome the outside in

Did you know that plants are scientifically proven to reduce stress and increase productivity? Not only that, but they improve the oxygen levels in your space, and can remove toxins from the air.  They’re also beautiful to look at, and can totally transform the feeling and aesthetic of a room. We love snake plants and peace lillies for all these reasons!

2. Declutter, declutter, declutter!

The Japanese Art of Kanso is all about harmonizing yourself with your surroundings to achieve total Zen. Think mindfully about the items around you when you’re working. Can you minimize visual noise and pack away things you don’t need? Sort through items one by one and decide whether you want to keep it, or if it can be donated to free up physical and mental space. A tidy room equals a tidy mind, as they say!

3. Try a change of scene

With this new found extra space from your decluttering efforts, try rearranging your furniture for a refreshing perspective. Even the slightest change around your furniture positioning can inspire new ways of thinking, allowing you to enjoy different aspects of your home. Why not try a few different layouts to see what is possible in your space - you might be surprised at how many options you have! We always try to make the most out of natural light, so try setting your table up in front of a window, and don’t forget to bring your plants too.

4. Tap into new levels of focus

Scents have a powerful ability to invoke vivid memories, allowing you to quickly impact your state of mind through aromatherapy. By choosing essential oils that you connect to, you can sharpen your mind and melt away any worries. Here at Vorda, we have 3 hand-crafted wood diffuser designs and over 30 essential oils (singles and blends) for you to choose from. Our favorites at the moment are Zest for focus and Hinoki for stress relief. Just a few drops of these will give you hours of boosted positive energy.

5. Start a new simple morning ritual

Whether or not you think you are a routine person, having a process can make your mornings feel more meaningful. We find that having some slow, simple steps we take every day is soothing, and makes us feel much more calm than waking up just before we need to start working or rushing around.  Through giving back time to yourself everyday to be mindful, you can set your intentions and tone for the day. Whether it’s enjoying a cup of coffee, a short yoga flow, writing a to-do list or setting up your Vorda diffuser - make time for these non-negotiables and you’ll be off to a great start.
