When you think of diffusers, does your mind immediately go to those little machines that you have to fill with water, some essential oil, and then plug it in? Water-based diffusers are definitely the most common type of diffusers used around. But did you know that diffusers don’t always have to use water or even electricity? This is where wood diffusers come in. You might have heard of them before or not, but we are here today to supply you with information about why you should choose wood diffusers over water-based diffusers.
But first, let us give you a brief summary on those water-based diffusers. The water is necessary to dilute the concentrated essential oil and create a mist out of the machine. In turn, this mist fills the room with its aroma. What most of these little machines have in common is that they need water and electricity to run, and they are made up mostly of plastic. We can now cover the pros of having an all natural wood diffuser.
1. Material
As you can probably tell from the name, wood diffusers are made out of wood! There are no tricks or hidden secrets about it. These diffusers are made 100% naturally out of wood. As a matter of fact, each diffuser is made from a single block of wood. The high quality wood material also makes this diffuser super sturdy. If it falls over from a table or shelf, no worries! Pick it back up and it can continue diffusing back the way it was.
2. Equipment
The biggest pro of having an all natural wood diffuser would have to be the equipment it needs, which is just essential oil and that’s it! These wood diffusers do not need any water or electricity. No more having to worry if there is enough water in the machine or if the water is clean. No more accidentally bumping into the diffuser and spilling out the contents. Plus, water and electricity are a dangerous combination. The risk of spilling water near the outlet is very high. But you don’t have to worry about all that with this wood diffuser!
3. Sound
Since wood diffusers require no water or electricity, they diffuse oils naturally. This also means there are no sounds made! To those who are very sensitive to sounds such as the ticking of a clock, this is a major plus. You don’t have to worry about having enough water, if it is plugged in, and the sound it makes. You may enjoy the benefits of wood diffusing aromatherapy in peace.
4. Cleaning
All you need to diffuse is the wood diffuser and the essential oil of your choice, that’s it. Since there is very minimal equipment involved, cleaning would be a breeze! Compared to water-based diffusers, which is recommended to use distilled water and to be changed out periodically, you may find that they still need cleaning even if you use the cleanest of waters. And since they disperse mist from its spout, the area around it becomes humid and you may find that the surfaces in the area attract much lint. But you do not have to worry about all that with wood diffusers.
5. Usage
If you got this far, you may be wondering how in the world are these diffusers work?! Worry not, we are here to help. We don’t want to get too technical because it might be a bit difficult to understand how the wood diffusers disperse the aromas of the oils. We’ll make it easier by giving you some examples and comparisons. If you are familiar with those disposable air fresheners you hang on your rearview mirror, then that is the best comparison to a wood diffuser. Those air fresheners are cardboard that has absorbed a liquid scent and then fills your car with the scent. It is the same as spraying some perfume or cologne on your clothes or skin, over time the scent is dispersed. This is the same idea as the wood diffuser. Pour some droplets on the wood diffuser, let it settle and absorb, and then over time the scent is diffused! That is all there is to it. There is no magic or trickery in how the wood diffusers work.
There are not much wood diffusers out there and as a result, water-based diffusers dominate the market. But we would like to change that starting now. We at Vorda would like to enlighten more and more people about the benefits of using wood diffusers. We now have three different types of wood diffusers and plan to have more soon. What are your ideas on wood diffusers and water-based diffusers now? We would like to hear how we can improve so let us know in the comments!
